THIS GAVE ME LIFE! This may be all I needed to make me an actual Kanye West fan again. Yes, I am still emotional about the Taylor Swift ordeal but I am very happy Kanye West showed support to the Occupy Wall Street movement. Sadly, this is a movement that most people within the Hip Hop community to not know about. The fact that he is an artist who makes millions but still supports democracy and humanity is amazing.
A brief about Occupy Wall Street: From my understanding the Occupy Wall Street is a movement the working class citizens made to get the government to regulate Wall Street and other Fortune 500 companies. Let’s think a little while back to the “Bailout Programs”. Remember when there were Fortune 500 companies that were asking for the government to “bail them out” of their financial “burdens”? Well, the following year, some of these companies gave away quart of a million dollars in BONUS’. How did they pay for the bonus’ if they didn’t originally have the money, you ask? YOUR TAX PAYER MONEY! That is the answer. Not only that, they laid off some of the “small people (the people who work the most hours and do all the company dirty work)” just so some of these companies can continue to receive these unnecessary bonus’. Who can stop this from happening? EXACTLY, NO ONE! That’s where the movement comes in. To get a better understanding on how exactly this is effecting people, directly, read through some of these stories: http://wearethe99percent.tumblr.com/
Depressing right? Well, now every one is standing up for what is right. INCLUDING Kanye West! What I love about this is…. He is doing NO MEDIA at the rally. He is SIMPLY there for support. If you notice, in the video, HE SAYS NOTHING. But he IS there. I love that. Way to make an impact Kanye! This has a way better effect than getting on national television, primetime, screaming the president is racist. Hip Hop saving the day, again. Welcome to American people, I love it!
